SNELLVILLE – The once-dormant Development Authority of Snellville has been reactivated following a unanimous vote by the Mayor and Council Monday.
Current members of the Snellville Downtown Development Authority will fill the positions as directors of the reinstated Authority.
The move was made to create a body that has the development powers of the DDA throughout the city. The DDA can only work to develop the designated downtown area of the city.
After the Authority was reactivated, the Mayor and Council approved a measure which directs the Development Authority of Snellville to take title of the old police station on Lenora Church Road.
The first meeting of the Development Authority of Snellville is at 4 p.m. Thursday in City Hall.
A committee to review the City Charter was also created. The committee consists of City Attorney Tony Powell, councilmen Bobby Howard and Roger Marmol, former Mayor Emmett Clower, Executive Director of the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity Melvin Everson, City Clerk Melisa Arnold, former Councilman and member of the city's Planning Commission and Urban Redevelopment Agency Tod Warner and former Councilwoman Diane Krause.
