300-unit housing development planned for space behind The Church on Main

SNELLVILLE - Mayor and Council approved a rezoning that will bring a 300-unit multifamily housing development and protected recreation area to land behind The Church on Main on Highway 78.

Following multiple comments from residents for and opposed to the development during the public hearing portion of Monday’s meeting, the project was approved by a vote of 5-1.

The project is 16.96 acres and will be constructed by Arris Holdings, LLC. The development includes four residential buildings totaling 285,868-square-feet served by 423 onsite parking spaces. The project is adjacent to Pine and Church streets and primary access is located on Henry Clower Boulevard at the existing driveway which currently serves as an access point for The Church on Main campus and the Snellville Park & Ride lot.

The four-story complex has an 8,773 square-foot clubhouse, swimming pool, and dog park for residents. The project will also include an approximately 6-acrea green space with public walking trails that connect to the existing Snellville Greenway leading to Briscoe Park. The wooded acres are protected from development as a condition of approval for the project by Mayor and Council.

The project is expected to be completed by 2027.
