How do you define PRIDE?

Here's how we define it:

P.R.I.D.E.

Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error

P.R.I.D.E. offers a FREE 2-hour course designed to help parents and new teen drivers, ages 14 to 16, learn how to manage the 40 hours of supervised practice driving time required by law.  P.R.I.D.E. addresses driver attitude, knowledge and behavior, rather than hands-on driver skills. It is designed to complement existing driver's education programs.  The P.R.I.D.E. curriculum includes teen driving facts and statistics, crash dynamics, the Graduated Driver's Licensing (GDL) process and Georgia's teenage driving law.

Is your teenagers life worth 2 hours of your time?

If the answer to this question is "yes", please contact Officer Will Collins or
Officer Linda Nixon at 770-985-3555 to inquire and/or enroll.

Please do what you can to keep your teenager from being one of 200 teen drivers or passengers that are killed each year on Georgia roadways!

  • SNELLVILLE HELPING TO TACKLE SHOPLIFTERS The City of Snellville Police Department has designed a new flyer that they are handing out to city businesses to try to deter people from shoplifting. The sign, which was designed to attract attention, advertises a FREE ride in a police car. That is, of course, if you shoplift.

The response from the businesses that have received the flyer so far has been positive. The police department hopes to have one at every business in the near future.
If you are a business owner and are interested in one of these flyers, please contact Crime Awareness Corporal Tim Colgan at (770) 985-7213 or via e-mail here: Cpl. Tim Colgan.

The Snellville Police Department's sixth Citizen's Police Academy will begin on March 27th, 2007. (Pictures of the first class are linked below!) This highly successful program began six years ago and is now better than ever!
The academy was designed to educate the citizens and business owners of Snellville about their Police Department and how officers enforce local and state laws. The 10-week program is FREE of charge and consists of weekly meetings on Tuesday nights at the Snellville Police Department. The course includes both classroom and hands-on instruction. Some of the topics include: traffic law and traffic stops, DUI investigation, firearms safety, weapons training, building searches and crime scene investigation. A ride-along program with officers and a tour of the Gwinnett County Jail are included in the itinerary. Graduates of the academy are also eligible to become members of the Snellville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (SCPAAA). The Alumni Association is a prestigious non-profit organization which was formed for the purpose of providing support to the police department. The Association has proven to be a valuable asset to the city and to the police department. Since its inception, the Association has collected thousands of dollars through local donations and fund raisers. The Association meets with the Chief of Police and other department members once a month at the Snellville Police Department.

The CPA is open to all Snellville citizens and business owners, eighteen (18) years of age or older, who successfully pass the application process, along with a driver's license history and a criminal history. Please contact Corporal Tim Colgan at 770-985-3562, or by e-mail here: Cpl. Tim Colgan, for further information and enrollment in this class or future academies.

We continue to receive complaints of thefts from vehicles at local shopping centers while the owner/driver is inside shopping and the vehicle is left unattended. PLEASE remember to lock your vehicle, activate your alarm, and, most importantly, DO NOT leave valuables or merchandise in the passenger compartment in plain view of thieves. Items being stolen consist of laptop computers, cell phones, purses, merchandise in shopping bags, etc... These items could easily be placed in your trunk, or at least out of view. Please call us at 911 or 770-985-3555 if you observe any individuals acting suspicious, placing items on windshields or looking into vehicles.
